Our Salsa Dance Team competed in the Modern Dance category. Although we didn’t place, I was incredibly proud of how our students performed with confidence! They truly held their own against some very tough competition! We also added something quite unique and different to the competition bringing Latin American dance and also the most boys in any group from our category (with the majority of the groups being female dominated, if not all female). Our students were polished, had great energy, executed all the lifts and dips required of them and did everything we asked of them! A real credit to our school!
The other schools in our category were Takapuna Normal Intermediate, Bruce McLaren, Glen Eden Intermediate (the hosts of the event), Baradene College, Remuera Intermediate School (who were *amazing* in the Cheerleading category), Howick Intermediate School, Blockhouse Bay Intermediate, and Murrays Bay Intermediate.
Our students to perform were:
· Boys: Tererua, Room 24; PJ, Room 8; Phi, Room 34; Valu, Room 34; Dylan, Room 34; Desmond, Room 34; Spencer, Room 35; Thao, Room 35; Zainal, Room 27
· Girls: Alyssa, Room 35; Diana, Room 8; Teana, Room 29; Tanya, Room 27; Zaynab, Room 24; Ailen, Room 19; Annalise, Room 4; Paris, 35; Litia, Room 35
It was also great for our students to see all the other students from different schools perform in the various categories (Cheerleading, Modern, Creative Contemporary & Hip Hop). We all really enjoyed the day and the experience. Thank you everyone for your support and especially to Mrs Naidu for your support in the lead up to the event and on the day!
With thanks,
